It’s become customary at our regular Wine Pairings to start the evening with a poem. We try to keep them fun and light hearted. When we first started our theme was Bistros. We’d find poems that had something to do with a Bistro. This has become more and more difficult.
For our Simonsig Wine Pairing in October, we moved away from the Bistro theme and selected two short fun wine poems.
If Dr Seuss Wrote about Wine
We couldn’t find the author of this poem. It’s referenced as a T-Shirt design. However, if Dr Seuss every wrote about wine, this is certainly what it would have been…
I will drink wine on a boat
I will drink wine with a goat
I will drink wine on a train
I will drink wine in the rain
I will drink wine with a fox
I will drink wine from a box
I will drink wine with a mouse
I will drink wine in a house
I will drink wine here or there
I will drink wine everywhere
Inder the Unfluence
This poem was written by Just That Archaic Poet. Reading it out allowed is far more difficult that you think 🙂
Starkle, starkle, little twink,
“Who the hell are you?” I think.
I’m not under what you’d call
The alcofluence of incohol.
I’m just a little slort of sheep,
I’m not drunk like thinkle peep.
It’s true: I don’t know quite who is me yet,
(The drunker I stand here the longer I get!)
So give me one more fink to drill my cup,
‘Cause I got all day sober to Sunday up.
