As a restaurateur, I have always understood the importance of creating a unique experience for our customers. In this post, I will explore what makes our Bistro (Lanser’s on Main) special and how we create a memorable experience for our patrons?

When we first conceived Lanser’s on Main, I had a choice as to the style of restaurant we’d open. Based on the size of our space, the building we were in, and that we were located in the Bryanston Community, I decided a Bistro would be a great fit.

Bistros have a rich history and culture that sets them apart from other restaurants. Originally, Bistros were small, unpretentious establishments that served simple meals and wine to working-class Parisians. They were known for their casual atmosphere, affordable prices, and quality food. Today, Lanser’s on Main continue to embody these characteristics, while also offering a wide range of dishes that reflect the changing tastes of our diners.

Quality Ingredients

One of the things I’ve always loved about a Bistro, is their focus on quality ingredients. Bistros typically use fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and often have a daily specials menu, as we do, that feature seasonal dishes. This allows us to ensure that the food is delicious and we’re also supporting local suppliers we have a relationship with. We source almost all of our ingredients from small suppliers within a 5km radius of Lanser’s on Main.

Cozy and Laid Back Atmosphere

Another key element of Bistros, and Lanser’s on Main, is our cozy, inviting atmosphere. Unlike some fine dining establishments, Bistros are not stuffy or formal. Instead, we offer a relaxed and welcoming environment that encourages diners to sit back, relax, and enjoy their meal. This is achieved through a combination of decor, lighting, and music (we prefer a French Cafe style). We’re focussed on setting a mood for a casual evening out.

Exceptional Customer Service

Customer service is another area where we work really hard to excel. While Bistros may not offer the same level of formality as other restaurants, we still take customer service seriously. Our staff members are friendly and knowledgeable, able to make recommendations and answer questions about our menu. We’re creating a more personal and enjoyable experience for customers, who feel welcomed and appreciated.

We like to offer a unique dining experience through our menu. Many Bistros offer a mix of classic French and modern dishes, creating a fusion of flavours that is both exciting and delicious. We also offer the best of South African, Italian and other favourite contemporary dishes. This can include dishes such as Moules Frites, Apple Crumble, Steak Tartare, and Springbok Risotto, as well as more contemporary offerings.

Sense of Community

One of the most important elements of Lanser’s on Main (and Bistros) is the sense of community we create. We’re frequented by regulars, who enjoy the casual atmosphere and the sense of camaraderie that comes with dining in a small, local establishment. This sense of community is reinforced through events such as wine pairings and other special events. By creating a sense of community, we’ve become more than just a restaurant – we’ve become a gathering place for friends and neighbours.

All the details are really important to me. This can include everything from the quality of the food and service to the decor and ambiance of Lanser’s on Main. By paying attention to the details, we can create a unique and memorable experience for our customers that will keep them coming back.

We like to see ourselves as your home away from home

Along with the team, I look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Lanser’s on Main #BryanstonsBestBistro #bistrofood #bistrolove
